If you love Panda Express Orange Chicken, here’s how can make this at home! It tastes so much better and you actually know what’s in there!
Ingredients:
Chicken Breast (cut into bite sizes) or
Chicken Thighs (best results)
1 Egg White
1/2 cup of Flour
1/3 cup Corn Starch
Salt and Pepper to taste (approx. 1 Tbsp each)
Orange Sauce:
1/2 cup Vinegar
1/2 cup Soy Sauce
1 Tbsp of minced Garlic
1 tsp Crushed Red Pepper Flakes
Sesame Seeds (optional)
1/3 cup Orange Juice
1 Tbsp ginger
1 Tbsp Orange Zest or Lemon Zest (either or)
4 – 6 Tbsp of Honey
2 Tbsp of Starch and water mixed together to make the slurry
Sesame Seeds (optional)
Directions:
1. Chop Chicken in bite-size nuggets and add to a bowl.
2. Add salt and pepper and mix well. Add egg white, corn starch and flour one by one and mix well before adding the next ingredient.
3. Heat pan with oil to medium/high heat, and add chicken. Cook until golden brown and flip.
4. Remove chicken from pan and set aside on some paper towels or a rack.
5. Add soy sauce and orange juice to the pan and stir to combine.
6. Add crushed pepper flakes, ginger and garlic and stir.
7. Add vinegar and bring to a boil.
8. Corn starch slurry mix and quickly stir to prevent clumps. Then add honey and lemon zest.
9. Add chicken and coat on both sides.
10. Transfer the chicken to a plate, sprinkle with sesame seeds if using and serve!
